Your first steps to leading with style:
Studied at Fashion
Institute of Technology
She won the “Best Dressed Award” from the School of Design in Cleveland, Ohio. And, in a moment she’d never forget, her sense of fashion and natural eye for design principles were enthusiastically pointed out by the head designer in her first position as assistant designer at “Smartee,” a leading sportswear brand.
Joy went on to study at the world-renowned Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. It was here that her awareness of style, attention to detail, and her killer instincts landed her in the exciting world of Fashion Merchandising.
A couple of Joy’s many career highlights include: being bestowed with the honor of first black fashion buyer at the high end specialty store, Best and Company, in NYC, where Jacqueline Kennedy would frequently be spotted shopping. Add to this, she was also the first black fashion representative for Vogue/Butterick, which allowed her the opportunity to travel all around the country for seven years.
Additionally, Joy has had much experience producing runway shows from start to finish (including: hiring all of the models, makeup artists, and hairstylists, and accessorizing the looks) for high-end department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, and Macys.
Her passion and purpose is for women to feel incredible about themselves on the inside and to look equally amazing on the outside. She teaches how to acquire the look of elegance and sophistication, with ease. When her clients walk into a room, they command it by projecting confidence, integrity, and charisma, firmly standing in their power. Joy is also a seasoned professional speaker and shares a passionate message on Women’s Empowerment, overcoming limiting beliefs, and showing up in the world as your best self.
